H A N D S // beyond form [Photography Exhibit; MAY 12th @ 6:30PM]

Photography Exhibit by Carolina Franco

H A N D S, beyond form focuses on a much-overlooked and exquisitely expressive part of the human body: the hands. Centering on gestures and details, the exhibit explores the manner in which hand positions channel flows of energy and connect distinct aspects of the body when practicing yoga, individually as well as collectively. Through H A N D S, Carolina invites you to look beyond the shape of yoga poses, and explore the hands, beyond their form. The series of photos presented were taken at the “Yoga on the Mall”, an event that is held annually in Washington, DC.

Carolina Franco arrived in Washington DC in early 2000 to work at an international organization, where she currently implements complex IT systems to document and defend human rights. An avid yoga practitioner and photographer, Carolina documents nature, urban life and her fellow yogis in Washington DC. Through the lens of her camera, Carolina takes ephemeral journeys with her creative soul and her mind’s angled eye. Her photographs have appeared in Yoga Journal, as well as in yoga studios and online. This is her first solo photography show.

Opening reception :: Friday May 12th, 2017. 6:30pm-9pm

Opening night includes a guided meditation led by Yael Flusberg.

The Keystone State Project (photography)_ Jan. 6th 2017 @ 6:30PM

The Keystone State Project (IG: @keystonestate2016) is a sketch of the landscapes and mood of Pennsylvania on the eve of the 2016 election. Shot over two weeks in late October, photographer Andrew Golda visually depicts the pastoral panoramas, bustling street scenes and post-industrial backdrops that make up this complicated state which was crucial to the victory of President-elect Trump.

Please join us for a slide show and discussion with the photographer on Friday, January 6, 2016 @ 6:30 PM in 4.WALLS [52 O street NW #207]

Andrew Golda first picked up a camera when his grandparents bought him a Kodak Disc Camera when he was 8.  Since that time he has been enamored with photographing the world around him. He can be followed on instagram at @xAndySocialx.  This is his first solo photography show.
